Eugene develops a "rest stop" for the homeless; Michael Wisth describes the process.

The city of Eugene is finally getting a "rest stop"… but not the kind where travelers pull off the freeway for a few minutes. 

"Rest stop" in this context means a place for homeless people to spend the night in tents, a legal place to sleep in town.

Eugene City Council To Allow Small Homeless Camps

Eugene City Councilor Claire Syrett explains the city's approach to camps for homeless.

The Eugene City Council voted this week to pass an ordinance allowing small camps for the homeless.

The ordinance would give the council the authority to create multiple volunteer-run camps for up to 15 people… if a tryout with a first camp goes well.
