The Lakota people of the Standing Rock Reservation put up spirited fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), but President Trump's executive order cleared the way for the pipeline's completion, and oil may be flowing through it now.

The Lakota People's Law Project worked on DAPL protest issues, including on behalf of the 800 or so people arrested.

Project attorneys work on behalf of the tribe and its interests, and the team includes Daniel Sheehan, a veteran of high-profile cases, including representing the New York Times in the Pentagon Papers case.

Environmental issues frequently make news in our region.  But few issues can stir up passions with just three letters: LNG.

The proposal for a liquefied natural gas export terminal at North Bend and a 230-plus mile pipeline too is like nails on a blackboard to many people.

Including the ones who made a mini-documentary film about the pipeline: "36 Inches."

Making The Case Against A Gas Pipeline

Energy projects are often controversial to begin with. 

But when the energy project involves a long pipeline carrying gas taken from the ground by fracking, it's just that much more contentious. 

So while the Jordan Cove natural gas terminal and Pacific Connector gas pipeline already passed one level of environmental review, there's a lot more work ahead, and more to be said. 

There'll be a lot of talking at a series of upcoming hearings around the region.
