The question is often asked during fire season, when thousands of acres are going up in smoke: weren't we talking about restoring regular fires to the ecosystem? 

The answer is yes. 

Or yes, BUT... the scientific answer is one thing, the political is another. 

The Bureau of Land Management and other agencies do perform prescribed burns. 

All post offices, except for one, that were closed due to the fires burning in Northern California have been reopened.

Augustine Ruiz, spokesperson for the United States Postal Service, says that all USPS branches are now running as usual, with the exception of the Sawyers Bar contract postal unit in Siskiyou County.

This privately managed site that contracts with the USPS to provide mail service is still cut off by the July Complex Fires.

Fire season ended at last in most of Southern Oregon.

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) dropped the fire danger to LOW at the stroke of midnight on Tuesday, September 24th.
