Pomplamoose Live Session

Ways To Subscribe

Formed in 2008 by multi-instrumentalists/Stanford students Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn, California's Pomplamoose (an English-spelling approximation of the French word for grapefruit) blend the quirky, jazz-tinged, anything-goes songcraft of Regina Spektor with the open-road, indie pop anthems of fellow male/female duos Mates of State, the Bird and the Bee, and Matt & Kim.

The pair garnered a massive following through their self-described "Videosongs" on YouTube, which featured pure, unadorned (no lip synching) performances of both original songs and select covers. As of August, their YouTube channel has had over 100 million views!

Pomplamoose songs have been used for numerous television commercials, including those for Toyota and Hyundai. They prefer to release their music digitally, though they've finally released an album called Season 2 to sell while out on their first extended tour in many years.

Since the band's setup is extensive and nearly impossible to fit into the JPR studios, Jack and Nataly met with JPR's Eric Teel in Portland at their Aladdin Theater show, and they allowed JPR the exclusive broadcast of audio from that concert.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
