Incumbent Democratic Governor Kate Brown, left, and her top Republican challenger, Salem doctor Bud Pierce, will each hold fundraisers Tuesday evening in Salem.

The two leading candidates for Oregon governor will hold competing fundraisers just down the street from each other Tuesday evening.

This comes as the Republican front-runner has pumped another $200,000 into his campaign. Bud Pierce and his wife have now injected more than $500,000 of their own money into the Salem cancer doctor's bid for the state's top office.

Pierce will open his campaign headquarters in Salem on Tuesday surrounded by local business leaders. He'll hold a fundraiser there as well.

Democrat Kate Brown will also hold a fundraiser in Salem Tuesday evening. The incumbent has outraised Pierce so far. Her largest single source of support has come from the Democratic Governors Association.

Brown and Pierce are among seven candidates for Oregon governor. The winner will serve out the remaining two years of John Kitzhaber's term. The Democrat resigned last February amid a criminal ethics investigation.
