Governor Kate Brown is visiting the Klamath Basin Tuesday morning in light of the area’s severe drought.
The governor will meet with county officials, tribal members, and water users to discuss options for drought relief.
Klamath County’s snow-water levels were just 40 percent of normal at the end of last month. State officials do not expect water conditions to improve.
In a press release, the governor’s office said the drought and the upcoming fire season pose "significant threats" to the local economy and agriculture. The office expects more than 550-million-dollars in losses affecting more than 45-hundred jobs.
