NPR Makes Changes to Morning Edition/ATC Nov 17th

Beginning Monday, November 17th, NPR will roll out a number of changes to the way Morning Edition, All Things Considered (ATC), and their weekend counterparts flow and function.

Some of the changes are fairly substantial, and others are things you'll likely not notice -- that is, unless you are among the many folks who've come to use the various timing cues in Morning Edition to begin your day!

The biggest adjustments will occur in Morning Edition. The newscast that begins each hour will be shortened from nine minutes to six, but there will be new local JPR newscasts at 6:31, 7:31, and 8:31 am.  Additionally, JPR now has the ability to include local and regional feature-length stories at 6:45, 7:45, and 8:45 am.

Weather forecasts in the morning will shift to 20 and 40 minutes past the hour. The one exception to that rule is that the weather forecast can be heard at 5:50 am rather than 5:40 am.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
