Cascade Theatre Announces 2016-2017 Season

Ani DiFranco, Sturgill Simpson, and Brandi Carlile highlight the 2016-2017 Cascade Performance Series

The Cascade Theatre in Redding has announced its 2016-2017 Performance Series, which focuses on a diversity of musical style and performance types ranging from indie Rock, singer/songwriter, country, blues, folk and world music, to musical theatre and dance.The new season, which is sponsored by Jefferson Public Radio and U.S. Bank with major support from KRCR News Channel 7, Shasta Regional Medical Center and Oxford Suites Redding, begins with a free concert to the community with the Palo Alto Chamber Youth Orchestra, one of the nation’s premiere youth string ensembles.

Tickets go on sale to “Friend & Follower Level” members on Tuesday, June 7th at 11am. Ticket sales for the general public will begin Friday, June 17th at 11am. The box office number is 530-243-8877.

Continuing the tradition of offering community youth with the opportunity of experiencing the arts, the theatre will provide special school shows for the Cascade theatre’s production of Cascade Christmas in December 2016 and Tarzan in March 2017. The Cascade will also be introducing a new summer production of the newly released 80’s rock musical Rock of Ages in June 2017. Also introducing a new Kid’s Summer Movie Club, the theatre will show a series of the best children’s films for free and offers fun for all ages every Saturday in July. Films include Finding Nemo, Aladdin, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Charlotte’s Web and The Lorax and will be paired with games, prizes, costumed characters and the chance to win tickets to other Cascade family events.

The Cascade Theatre will also host new screenings of film events: the Manhattan Short Film Festival and a new Sliver Screen Classics Party, featuring films Frankenstein, Casablanca, It’s a Wonderful Life and Singing in the Rain.
