California’s employment picture improved last month, with 29,000 new private sector jobs added. Experts see the trend continuing into next year.The Employment Report by ADP, a leading human resource provider, showed private sector jobs climbed to 216,000 nationwide with California leading the country with the most job gains.
The majority, over 24,000, were service providing jobs while about 4,000 were goods producing.
Jeffrey Michael is the Director of the Center for Business and Policy Research at University of the Pacific.
Michael says he sees that growth continuing.
“Manufacturing jobs have been pretty stagnant. They haven’t been growing. Most jobs now are in the service sector and that’s accounting for the vast majority of employment growth, so again, that’s consistent with recent trends,” says Michael.
Michael also says many of the jobs in the Central Valley have come from warehousing and trucking.
