Walden Votes Against Ending Shutdown

Official Congressional Portrait

Republican Greg Walden of Oregon voted against the bill to end the partial government shutdown.

He broke with Speaker John Boehner but aligned himself with most of the GOP caucus.

The Oregonian reports that Walden was one of two members of the Republican leadership in the House to vote no.

Walden has been an ally of Boehner and was among the Republicans chosen to meet with President Obama last week.

He issued a statement criticizing the deal to end the shutdown as temporary-kicking the can down the road.

The four other members of the Oregon House delegation, all Democrats, voted for the measure.
