Update On A Brisk Fire Season

National Interagency Fire Center

So much for thinking that an abnormally wet year would mean an abnormally quiet fire season.

Even the slowly creeping fires of mid-July have become the roaring infernos (seeChetco Bar) of late August.

And with the fires comes smoke, enough to make the air unhealthy to breathe at time and places in the region.

We peruse the list of firesburning in both of our states, and visit with some of the people involved in the firefighting efforts.

Virginia Gibbons from Chetco Bar and Mike Linbury from High Cascades Complex provide details.
