JPR will be changing a couple of programs on the News & Information Service at the beginning of January. Both Backstory and America's Test Kitchen are ending production at the conclusion of the 2016.
Backstory will be replaced on Sunday afternoons at 2pm by Marketplace Weekend. Marketplace Weekend gives the week's business and economic news a human voice. Host Lizzie O'Leary will guide you through the most fascinating economic stories of the week, exploring what happened, why it matters, who it affects and what happens next. Tune in for an engaging and lively conversation.
While America's Test Kitchen may be going away, Test Kitchen fans don't have to fret - Bridget Lancaster and friends will now be heard as part of The Splendid Table on JPR's Rhythm & News Service at 9am Sunday mornings. In Test Kitchen's place Sunday afternoons on the News & Information Service, former Test Kitchen host Christopher Kimball will be heard in his new position - host of Milk Street Radio. From street food in Thailand to a bakery in a Syrian refugee camp to how one scientist uses state of the art pollen analysis to track the origins of honey (and also to solve cold murder cases), Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Radio goes anywhere and everywhere to ask questions and get answers about cooking, food, culture, wine, farming, restaurants, literature, and the lives and cultures of the people who grow, produce, and create the food we eat.
One other change to note, we've come to the end the season of Concerts from the Library of Congress on the Classics & News Service, and will be kicking off 2017 with the new season of Center Stage from Wolf Trap performances, Sunday evenings at 7pm.
