Officials at Oregon State University said Monday they plan to address sexual violence on campus by changing the school’s transfer policy.
The new policy would ban any undergraduate or graduate students from enrolling at OSU if they have been listed as ineligible to attend another institution in the past seven years because of student conduct violations.
“We are committed to combatting sexual violence in society and to improving safety on the Oregon State University campus,” said OSU President Ed Ray in a news release Monday.
Ray said he’s sharing the new policy with all Pac-12 universities in hopes they'll adopt similar transfer rules.
The new rule won’t affect students who are ineligible at other universities because of academic reasons. Those students can still apply to OSU and receive acceptance if they meet minimum academic requirements.
Students denied enrollment at OSU will be able appeal and have their case reviewed.
