Oregon State Police announced Monday they’re launching a statewide investigation into suspicious packages mailed to government offices across the state.

Police said in a news release that some of the packages contained an “unknown substance.”

The Blue Mountain Eagle reports that one of the packages went to the Grant County Correctional Facility.

Sheriff Glenn Palmer reportedly found a white powder in an envelope addressed to him. He later broke out with a skin rash and went to the hospital for observation.

The East Oregonian reported that packages were also sent to Umatilla, Jackson, Sherman, Wasco and Baker counties

Police said they plan to release more details when they become available.
