This is the place to get links to updates on evacuations, road closures and other relevant information on wildfires currently burning in JPR's listening area in Oregon.
The biggest fire of concern in southern Oregon right now is the Chetco Bar fire north of Brookings. It simmered for a month in the scar of the 1987 Silver fire and the 2002 Biscuit fire in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, before blowing up and breaking out of contingency lines in late August. To date it's burned 184,292 acres and is 8 percent contained. We'll continue to update the Chetco Bar fire in a separate post.

The High Cascades Complex has been burning since late July in the area west and southwest of Crater Lake. The fires in the complex have burned a total of 72,309 acres so far and are at a collective 28 percent containment.
A Level 1 ("Ready") Evacuation Alert remains in effect for Mazama Village in Crater Lake National Park. Another Level 1 Evacuation Alert remains in effect for the Union Creek area in Jackson County.
There are some closures in effect on these fires.

The Miller Complex fires have been burning since early last week, about 17 miles east of Cave Junction in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.
The complex has burned a total of 34,033 acres. The fires are at 40 percent containment.
he team will host two community meetings this week to brief the public on the progress of the Miller Complex. The west side community meeting will be held Tuesday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the Williams Elementary School located at 20691 Williams Hwy, Williams, OR 97544. The eastside community meeting will be held Wednesday, September 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Applegate Valley Fire Station #9 1095 Upper Applegate Road Jacksonville, OR 97530.

The Umpqua North Complex started the week of Aug. 09, about 50 miles east of Roseburg in the Umpqua National Forest. There are currently 14 active fires in the complex. The fires have burned about 39,529 acres in total so far and are 37 percent contained.

The Horse Prairie fire was discovered on Saturday afternoon, August 27, near Horse Prairie, 12 miles west of Riddle and eight miles southeast of Camas Valley in Douglas County. It quickly grew from 50 acres to 350 acres by Saturday evening. The fire remains at 16,436 and is now 50 percent contained.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department has reduced the Level 2 ("Get Set") Evacuation Alert for residents on Lower Cow Creek Road from the end of county maintenance to Union Creek. to a Level 1 ("Get Ready"). This includes residents living on Doe Creek Road.
