A long-time veteran with the Oregon Department of Corrections has been promoted to serve as the agency's interim deputy director.

Brian Belleque has been with the Department of Corrections for more than three decades, including roles overseeing some of the agency's 14 institutions. He'll serve as the top deputy to Corrections chief Collette Peters until at least next June.

Belleque steps into the role following the resignation of Kim Brockamp. She was appointed to the job less than two years ago.

In an email to Department of Corrections employees, Brockamp said after 25 years with the agency, it was time to make changes to her work/life balance.

Peters says she'll launch a search for a long-term replacement for Brockamp next spring.
