JPR's Classics & News Service Rings In '14 With Live Concerts From Vienna And Boston

Nov 29, 2013

On Wednesday, January 1st, at 8am, get ready to pop the New Year's Day champagne! JPR's Classics & News Service will take you to Vienna for The Vienna Philharmonic's annual salute to the waltz.

The orchestra has invited Daniel Barenboim to welcome 2014 by conducting the annual New Year's year's concert, honoring his 25 years of musical collaboration with the orchestra, and his efforts to bring peace to the world through music. Hear the hit tunes of the Strauss family and others -- polkas, gallops and waltzes, live from the Musikverein.

Then, at Noon, we'll whisk you away to a Boston New Year's tradition! Martin Pearlman leads Boston Baroque, now in it's 40th Anniversary Season as America's oldest period-instrument orchestra in a festive all-Bach New Year's Day concert live from Sanders Theatre in Harvard Square.

It all starts at 8am, New Year's Day on the Classics & News Service.
