From her start in 1980s as a guitar playing coffee shop folk artist through all of her unique musical incarnations over the ensuing years, Jane Siberry has carved out a unique career and established herself as a remarkably gifted singer and composer.
After taking up the piano as a child, Jane Siberry began absorbing the classical and operatic inspirations which later distinguished her professional work. Siberry's first hit was from the 1984 release No Borders Here. It spread quickly throughout Canada with heavy radio support despite its 7+ minute length. Her third record was another commercial and critical success, going gold in Canada and selling over a million copies, cementing Siberry's status as a Canadian pop star. That position was bolstered a few years later with the release of When I was A Boy, the album that featured what was to become Siberry's best-known song, "Calling All Angels."
Over the ensuing two decades, Siberry reinvented herself musically and personally. She founded her own record label (Sheeba) in 1996, and for a time in in the early 2000s, even changed her name and recorded as Issa. With that period complete, Siberry now continues to release music independently through crowdsourcing and other creative promotional endeavors. Her forthcoming album will be called Consider The Lily.
