Guns + Teachers: VENTSday Returns

guernicamag.org

For the first time in three weeks, our VENTSday segment returns to Wednesday's (4/23) Jefferson Exchange.  And in the spirit of "go big or go home," we'll talk about guns and teachers.

The guns chat comes from the recent comments of retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who suggested a five-word changeto the second amendment.

And California's legislature is again taking up a bill that might make it easier to fire bad teachers.

This is a (mostly) regular event (no pun intended): we do not schedule guests for Wednesday at 8:30, because that's the time for VENTSday, your chance to vent (politely, please) on a pair of topics in the news.  We bring the topics, you bring the opinions.  It's VENTSday on The Jefferson Exchange!

Topics for this week, again:

  • Would you favor tweaking the 2nd amendment (keep and bear arms) to make it clearer?
  • Should tenure be less restrictive, so poorly-performing teachers can be fired more easily?
