Green Cannabis | 'Viewpoint Diversity' | Reedies Against Racism

As the industry expands in Oregon, more people are paying attention to the environmental impact of cultivating cannabis.

Alan Sylvestre

As the industry expands in Oregon, more people are paying attention to the environmental impact of cultivating cannabis.

As the cannabis industry expands in Oregon, more people are paying attention to the environmental impact of its cultivation, like energy and water use. We speak with Jesce Horton, the owner of and a board member for Oregon’s , about moves towards environmental sustainability in Oregon's cannabis industry.

Portland State University political science professor Bruce Gilley and Menlo College professor Melissa Michelson discuss the idea of “ viewpoint diversity” in higher education, and whether or not college campuses should do more to promote and highlight conservative points of view.

Last year, a group of students at Reed College protested nearly every lecture of the campus’ year-long freshman humanities course. The students argued that the syllabus for the class is too white, male and Eurocentric. They also say Reed needs to be more receptive to the needs of students of color. Earlier this fall, two classes were canceled because of protests. Last week, we heard from two deans at Reed. On this show, we're joined by Alex Boyd and Addison Bates, members of the group Reedies Against Racism.
