Workers at Blue Star Gas in Andersonville, CA remove a propane tank from a property in Happy Valley in preparation for the Shasta County Sheriff's Office burning a barn Monday where a large stash of explosives was found.

Some residents of the Happy Valley area of Andersonville, California will have to evacuate their homes Monday and Happy Valley Elementary School will be closed. That’s to allow the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office to burn a barn where new homeowners recently discovered several hundred pounds of explosives.

Over the weekend, deputies removed 12 pounds of TNT from the barn and safely detonated them offsite. Officials say the remaining explosives will be neutralized by burning the structure.

The barn burning is set for noon Monday. The mandatory evacuation of residents within half a mile of the house at 5747 Happy Valley Road will begin at 8 a.m.

The evacuation will be lifted as soon a officials determine the site is safe.
