The Jackson County Sheriff's office has issued a level 3--go immediately--evacuation order for homes along Sterling Creek Road near Jacksonville, due to an advancing fire caused by Sunday morning lightning.
Here is the statement, from the JCSO Facebook page: "Due to a wildfire, residents of Sterling Creek Road near Schlesinger Reservoir, east of Buncom, should evacuate immediately."
9:15 PM Update, Sunday from Jackson County Emergency Management: "Only residents between 7400 and 9400 Sterling Creek Road, even numbers only, which is the west side of the road, are being evacuated at this time. All other residents in the area should remain alert and aware of your surroundings!"
10 PM Update: "Fire crews have made significant progress on the Sterling Creek Fire and we don’t expect further evacuations."
