Ducks and Beavers Advance to Sweet 16 in NCAA Tournament

The ‘Sweet 16’ of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament includes two Oregon teams after number 6 ranked Oregon State claimed victory in an upset over third-seeded Tennessee, and number 2 seed University of Oregon outscored number 10 Minnesota 101-73 in the second round of the tournament.

OSU’s Marie Gulich had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the  66-59 win over Tennessee. The Lady Vols had been 57-0 at home in the women's NCAA Tournament before the Beavers ended that streak on Sunday.

Sabrina Ionescu had 29 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in the Ducks’ win on Sunday. It was the 11 th straight victory for the Ducks who are headed to the round of 16 for the second straight season.

The Beavers will face Baylor on Friday in Lexington, Kentucky. The Ducks will take on either number 3 seed Ohio State or number 11 seed Central Michigan on Saturday in Spokane.
