DeFazio was asked about President Trump’s “skinny” budget, which includes cuts to the EPA, Meals on Wheels and the elimination of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. DeFazio said the President’s budget proposal has already been declared “Dead on Arrival”.

“The government funding runs out next Friday." DeFazio said,  "And the issue, you know Trump is insisting on the wall, if the wall’s in there, the democrats aren’t going to support it. The right wing is insisting on defunding Planned Parenthood. If that’s in there, we’re not going to vote for it.”

DeFazio also objects to Trump’s proposal to give more money to the pentagon. He says last fall the Department of Defense was found to have wasted $150 billion administratively. DeFazio says the DOD is the only federal agency that’s not subject to audit.

The City Club of Eugene airs Monday night at 6:30 on KLCC.
