Monday, November 3, 2014/8:00 SOU Considers Biomass For Fuel
Southern Oregon University prides itself on its environmental friendliness and sustainability efforts. But its next big project in this area could take a big sales job. Two of the university's aging steam boilers need to be replaced. And the next boilers could be fired by biomass, woody waste material. The boilers would produce steam and electricity--and the by-products of burning wood. We sit down with SOU reps to talk about the proposal and the process.

We did, and could not stop ourselves from booking Megan as a guest. Her comedy writing is featured on TV's "Parks and Recreation," and the book looks like the Cosmopolitan magazine staff took over the textbook department. Megan Amram explains what her book teaches.

The "eat local" movement is clearly not a fad. Food producers and consumers continue to pay greater attention to where food comes from, how it's distributed, and who buys what, and why. Now there's a new entity coordinating the many parts of the food chain, the Rogue Valley Food System Network. We hear about the mission and works of the network in Jackson and Josephine Counties.
