Patty and Vince Wixon have lived in Ashland since 1978, and have chosen poems for JPR’s Jefferson Monthly for over 30 years. They have also served as poetry judges for Oregon Poetry Association state contests, Poetry Out Loud in Rogue Valley schools, and OLLI’s 2013 Poetry Contest. Patty has published two books of poems, Airing the Sheets and Side Effects. Vince’s most recent books are Blue Moon and The Square Grove. Their poems have been published in anthologies, including Deer Drink the Moon: Poems of Oregon and What the River Brings: Oregon River Poems. Vince’s poem “Tornado Weather” was read by Garrison Keillor on The Writer’s Almanac and appears in the anthology, Good Poems: American Places. Patty has hosted the William Stafford Birthday Reading at SOU for over a decade. Also, they are on the Board of Chautauqua Poets & Writers, which brings outstanding writers to the Rogue Valley.
