Charlotte Duren grew up in the Seattle area and previously worked as a reporter for NPR stations in Salt Lake City and Wrangell, Alaska.  She graduated from Southern Oregon University in 2010 where she spent her mornings as a student board operator for the Jefferson Exchange. Charlotte is responsible for booking guests on the Jefferson Exchange and is always looking to hear from community members about interesting events and issues going on in and around the state of Jefferson.

There's such a mixture of triumph and tragedy in the story of Danny Lewin. 

The triumph came with computers: he figured out ways to make the Internet faster.  The tragedy came in his early death: Lewin was 31 when he boarded one of the planes that ended up crashing into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

E-Cigarette Fire Warning

Fire Marshal Greg Kleinberg details Medford FD's experiences with e-cigarette fires.

It looks like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette… and sometimes even burns like a cigarette. 

Medford's fire department just put out a warning about electronic cigarettes, the "E-cigarettes" that are all over the news of late. 

MFD responded to two incidents in recent months in which the (theoretically) non-burning cigarettes started small fires when being charged.

It's not this year, but a previous one, that may be weighing on the minds of California farmers. 

2008's Proposition 2 requires more spacious quarters for egg-laying hens, but it gave farmers more than six years to comply. 

Animal-rights activists at the Humane Society and other groups say many farmers have yet to make any changes, and could miss the deadline.
