No Refuge For Ducks In Klamath Basin

The drought in the Klamath Basin this summer only worsened the situation of too many entities seeking use of the same water.  Somebody loses, and this year, the losers include ducks in the federal wildlife refuges in the area.  You'll hear the scope of the problem from the Fish and Wildlife Service.

Oregon Wild Campaigns Against Clearcuts

Congress returns to business today, and a key item of business for the region is up for consideration.  Members of Congress from both parties in Oregon support a plan to divide the former O & C lands managed by the federal government, with a portion managed intensively for timber (and county revenue).  Opponents are mounting a campaign against the measure, under the banner "Oregon Home of the Clearcut."

Small Business Help Hits The Road

The recent pesticide-caused bee deaths in northern Oregon underscored the importance of bees to agriculture… and so to us and our food supply.  No education on this point is necessary for the people at Wild Bee International in Eagle Point.  You'll hear about the group's work with bees, and what it hopes to accomplish for bees and all of us who depend upon them.  Other beekeepers and bee fans join in the discussion.

Country’s First Tiny House Hotel Opens in Portland

The Pearl is the smallest of Caravan's three tiny houses at 90 square feet on the main floor. It is also the most modern with sleek countertops and dark wood finish. Each unit has unique features.

Portlanders Kol Peterson and Deb Delman think you should try it – if only for one night.

This past July, they opened the country’s first tiny house hotel.  The Caravan Tiny House Hotel consists of three tiny homes on what used to be a vacant lot in northeast Portland.

And, yes, they really are tiny.
