Event Description

Betty La Duke, Flower Harvest #4

Liberty Arts presents Bountiful Harvest with Betty LaDuke Betty LaDuke’s farm to table Bountiful Harvest paintings celebrate the agricultural workers, who make the food on our tables possible. Her energetic and vibrant colors bring a new level of awareness to Oregon’s agricultural bounty and the workers who plant, tend, and harvest it. She has spent countless hours sketching from life in the fields, with each trip leading to the production of a series of works reflecting the lives of the people she has visited. The exaggerated, caricatured forms and heightened colors of LaDuke's work are used to expressively portray the working class as she tells the workers' stories through an art with broad common appeal, bright color, texture, and imagery that simply and directly presents the activities she originally sketched in the fields. Her work asks the viewer to value and celebrate the beauty of other cultures, while recognizing humanity's enduring hardships. The opening reception for Bountiful Harvest will be on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and will be held in conjunction with the Yreka Art Hops.
