Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art (SMA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition, "Moving Pictures: A Survey Exhibition of Works by Deborah Oropallo and Collaborators." Opening April 18 at 5 p.m., the exhibition invites art enthusiasts to delve into the captivating world of Deborah Oropallo and witness her artistic evolution spanning montage, sculpture, installation, and media work.
More than just a retrospective, "Moving Pictures" amplifies Oropallo's artistic journey, shedding light on her significant contributions to contemporary art. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1954, Oropallo received her BFA from Alfred University and her MA/MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. Initially trained as a painter, she seamlessly integrates mixed media techniques such as photomontage, video, printmaking, and painting into her practice.

The award-winning Oregon State University Land Steward training helps landowners learn about their property and develop a management plan. This 11-week program covers critical topics like wildfire risk reduction, forests, soil health, wildlife, habitat, pasture management, stream care, water capture and distribution, and much more.
In this introductory class, each class will have a short instruction time, a demonstration, followed by practice time with help from the instructor. The students will work through a sketch book which includes lessons, practice pages, and each week’s drawing assignment. At the end of the course the sketch book will serve as the students ‘textbook’ and will showcase all they learned.
The North Bend Public Library is pleased to offer “Yoga for the Nervous System,” a free yoga series instructed by Iowa Wander, every Tuesday in April at 5:00 PM. During the series, Iowa will lead a series of movement and breathing techniques that will incorporate mindfulness strategies to calm the nervous system, decrease anxiety, and increase self-compassion. Iowa will also use the additional support of neuroscience, somatic movement, and sound to help practitioners end the class feeling relaxed and uplifted. Reservations are now being taken for the 36th annual Passover Seder at the Havurah Synagogue in Ashland. The Seder ritual and meal will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 PM. Passover is the springtime Jewish Festival that celebrates liberation of the Jewish people from enslavement in Egypt in 3,300 years ago. Rabbi David Zaslow will lead the music-filled, thought-provoking evening. The ritual dinner is catered by Chef Skye Elder and is open to all, and space is limited. Adult $75, children 6-13 $20.
